Aftermath of el-clasico 2014 (Barca players react)

Shortly after the game went down, and Christiano Ronaldo laid the blame at the feet of referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco. Barca players made different comments, excerpts below.
Lionel Messi
Individually things are going well for me, but one has to recognize that the whole team played an extraordinary game”. Messi described the result as “extremely important” and then stressed everyone needs to look forward, not to the past. “We are much closer now and must continue on this path. We can’t make any more mistakes.
This team always comes through on the big nights. It likes to play these types of matches, but we must now continue. La Liga is very tough and there are few games remaining. We can’t falter.
Sergio Busquets
We are very happy. This win gives us a lot of confidence. Madrid is a great team, they have such physical presence, but we were able to pick up the three points. The whole team played unbelievably. This is a direct rival. The league would have been complicated if we didn’t win here, and now we have practically the same number of points as them [Real and Atlético]. What will happen in the remaining games will be decisive, especially the away game. We have to win all every game.
Gerard Piqué
We are in a country where shows like this, with these great game, are always based on the refereeing. It’s unfair. We shouldn’t do that, we should enjoy it. Undiano [Mallenco, the referee] did not influence the play.
Piqué was asked what he thought of Cristiano Ronaldo’s post-game moaning, saying Real Madrid played against “12 men“, the center-back replied mostly diplomatically. “We have to understand that the Madrid players are all fired up. We don’t have to always talk about this. After witnessing such a spectacle, it’s unjust to talk about the referee.
We knew it was a very important game, and now our chances in the league improve by winning this game.
Doubting this team is something incomprehensible. There is so much quality, world-class players. I hope to win back the people who thought we were dead and buried.
