Chelsea are reportedly plotting an outrageous £60m summer bid to sign the strike duo
Hulk and Diego Costa from Zenit St. Petersburg and Atletico Madrid respectively.
Jose Mourinho has grown increasingly frustrated with his lacklustre Chelsea strike-force, with the talismanic manager recently criticizing Samuel Eto’o's age and Torres’ scoring record.
Chelsea’s need for a striker was all-too apparent in their recent loss to Aston Villa, with most commentators well aware that Chelsea would likely be leading the league comfortably if they had a 25-goal-a-season striker in their squad.
Chelsea are apparently keen on offloading Fernando Torres and his massive wage bill, and it is becoming apparent that Samuel Eto’o will not be renewing his year long contract.
Costa, on the other hand, has been in fine form for Atletico this season, helping his side challenge in the La Liga’s title race.
Hulk of Zenit St. Petersburg has been a long term target for the Blues, and although Mourinho appears willing to allow Romelu Lukaku a way back into his team, it is likely that Mourinho will move for more than just Costa this summer.
Hulk’s agent recently stated that the player is keen on a switch to the Premier League, and Costa remains Chelsea’s top summer target.
