Anichebe Wants World Cup Call Up

This report comes hot on the heel of information in quarters close to the Eagles that West Bromwich Albion of England striker, Victor Anichebe is looking good to make a spirited return to the Nigerian national team.

Although the former Everton striker had initially snubbed the Eagles, stating he preferred playing for his club and reestablish his career, his recent comments and hint at a desire for a recall has ostensibly touched the soft spot of national team selectors, who are now said to be considering giving him a chance to lay claim for a World Cup shirt.

While the Beijing 2008 Olympics silver medalist was out of EPL action penultimate weekend due to injury, he returned to West Brom’s bench for the entire 90 minutes of last Saturday’s 1-0 win away to Joseph Yobo’s Norwich City.

The emergence of Anichebe on The Baggies’ cards, plus a couple of crucial goals for the side, is serving up possibility that he could be available for selection by Eagles head coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi.

Anichebe has three goals and three assists this season, but remains a relatively weak fantasy option given the struggles of the West Brom attack overall, yet continues being taken seriously in the club’s chase to finish in a respected position in the EPL
