NFF-We have no problem with Keshi

Two top officials of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), board member, Chief Emeka Inyama and general-secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu have both spoken out against recurring public debate over frayed nerves between the soccer body and Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, but insists nothing of the sort is going on.

In contrast with widespread belief that the NFF is at loggerheads with Keshi, following another query issued the coach for failing to honour a meeting with the body’s technical committee, Inyama and Amadu have chosen to douse the raging inferno.

Making a point for peace during a chat with SportsDay in Abuja, Inyama came out to categorically state that there are no truths in stories that the NFF is at consistent logger-heads Keshi.

The NFF publicity committee chairman pointed out that the present board employed Keshi in the first place because they believed in local coaches, despite pressures from many quarters to employ a foreign expatriate after the sack of Samson Siasia.

Inyama down played the huge media coverage that followed the query given Keshi by the soccer federation, saying: "For some time now there have been very worrying issues between the Federation, the Super Eagles  and Stephen Keshi.

“It seems as if there's war. As if the country is going to break into two. But today, I am assuring you that there's peace, there's no tension. Keshi is a staff of the NFF and we are his employers.

“We have had good wonderful working relationship since Keshi has been engaged. We hired Stephen Keshi from San Francisco in the United States.

“We also gave him a hefty salary as you all know and since he came on board, we've supported his programmes through world class pre-tournaments preparations.

“Through ensuring that all his programmes are worked upon and Keshi in turn has been fantastic, posting a very commendable results. It has been a wonderful synergy between the NFF and Keshi and the Super Eagles. Hence, the results we've gotten.

“The issue is at what point has it become a problem? At what point has it become that the same people that had confidence in him and  employed him, supported him do not want him again.

“We do not have any plans to bring any foreign assistant to work with Keshi. We have confidence in Stephen Keshi and we will support him all the way."

On a similar trail, Amadu assured Nigerians that the body is very confident of a good outing from the Eagles at the 2014 World Cup and attested that the team’s handlers are capable and experienced enough to ensure the squad makes their fans happy.

The NFF scribe stated: “We should go into this World Cup with confidence and optimism. We have a competent technical crew. I don't have any doubts about it.

“The coach has played at the highest level. Like he has seen it all. I am quite confident that we have sufficient material both. From the technical crew and the players."
