Arsenal will look to bring in two world-class stars in the summer transfer window to help strengthen their title credentials next season, according to the Metro.
The Gunners are entering a new period of financial stability after securing crucial sponsorship deals with both Emirates and Puma. Having paid off a large chunk of their stadium debt, they are now in a position to plough funds into the team.
Arsene Wenger has been given the all-clear to carry on spending this summer after the club posted healthy financial results last month. The Arsenal boss is looking to add two more world-class stars to the Emirates line-up.
Wenger will be looking to add a striker and a winger to his team this summer as a priority but will also look into defensive midfielders as well.
If Lukasz Fabianski and Bacary Sagna leave when their contracts expire in the summer, Wenger will also have to look for a new reserve goalkeeper and a new right-back.
Fabianski has already declared his desire to leave north London in search of first team football while contract Sagna remains at a stand-off with the club over a new deal.
But a striker remains the top priority for Wenger, who has had to rely heavily on the form and fitness of Olivier Giroud this season. Giroud has played in 27 of Arsenal’s 29 Premier League games so far this season and has looked jaded as a result.
The impetus for the moment will remain on signing their current stars down to long-term contracts. Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla both agreed new deals yesterday and follow Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky.
Laurent Koscielny is believed to be next in line for a new deal.
