PSG, Chelsea Fans Clash !

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed they have a plan in place for the arrival of PSG supporters in London, as new footage emerges of the violence in Paris ahead of last Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Chelsea.

The new video shows rival fans throwing chairs and other objects at each other. This comes after footage last week showed supporters rioting in the French capital
It was reported that Chelsea supporters sang anti-Semitic songs and smashed through shops on Rue St Denis - a street popular with tourists and full of pubs and bars - before clashing with PSG fans.

Eyewitness reports have since suggested it was around 100 PSG ‘ultras’, most clad in balaclavas, who set upon Chelsea fans, throwing chairs and bottles.

French police said there were no arrests of Chelsea supporters and that the disturbance lasted for no longer than 90 seconds.
PSG now travel to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday with a 3-1 lead ahead of the second leg, quarter-final encounter.

And a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘An appropriate policing plan is in place.’

Meanwhile, a spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: ‘As is always the case with major events in London, we work closely with the Metropolitan Police Service to create a safe and comfortable environment for the travelling public, including those fans travelling to and from Tuesday’s Champions League match.

‘We will have officers out on high-visibility patrols, on trains and at stations, helping to ensure the day goes as smoothly as possible.

'We are well versed in dealing with large numbers of people using both the rail and Underground networks and our officers are experienced in helping football fans get to and from stadiums across London with the least possible impact on other travellers.

‘People should be reassured to see increased numbers of officers on the rail and Underground this week and we ask anyone who spots problematic behaviour to contact us on 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016.’
